EMMERDALE fans are suspicious of Sandra Flaherty after she made a shock return to the village tonight.

The alcoholic - who is played by actress Joanne Mitchell in the ITV soap - was last seen in June last year when she encouraged her daughter Liv to give in to her own alcoholism.

She was living in a caravan and drinking herself into an early grave.

Liv managed to escape the same fate and returned home to the village.

However tonight Sandra turned up on Liv’s doorstep - and it was clear that she had been drinking.

Begging her daughter for help, Sandra insisted she wanted to change and just needed Liv’s help to do it.

But after Liv held firm and told her mum to go, Sandra was soon found stumbling around the cemetery drunk.

Blaming Liv for her issues, she raged at her daughter, before crying and begging for help.

Liv fell for Sandra’s act - and invited her to stay with her.

Later, thinking she was alone, Sandra picked up her phone and called someone.

“I said I’d ring you when I get the chance,” she said.

“It’s fine, you’ll get your money soon. Everything’s in hand. Talk later.”

However Sandra was caught making the secret phone call by Vinny.

He asked if everything was OK but she lied.

“Everything’s grand,” she said.

“Just an old mate wanting to catch up. Never enough hours in the day, is there?”

And now fans think she’s got a scheme for her daughter.
