CORRIE star Andy Whyment has celebrated his soap character's popularity by splashing out £40,000 on a new car.
The 43-year-old has treated himself to a which is turbocharged and has an annual mileage of 10,000.
The electric vehicle promises a smooth driving experience and boasts state of the art technology both inside and outside the car.
His high end purchase comes after we revealed that Andy had recently signed a large six figure salary to remain on the cobbles for the foreseeable future, having already played the character of Kirk Sutherland for an incredible 21 years.
Indeed while some soapstars have ambitions of moving to glossy Netflix dramas or even Hollywood, Andy has said that he has no intention of leaving Wetherby and is happy to remain in the soap for as long as ITV bosses will have him.
An insider told The Sun: “Andy just loves Corrie. It is in his blood and he never wants to go anywhere else.
“Lots of other actors get itchy feet and want to go on to do other stuff and some think they want to star in 'higher quality' telly.
“But for Andrew, there is no higher-quality telly. It’s the nation’s favourite soap – a national institution that’s been on the box for 60 years, so why would he want to go anywhere else?
The dad of twos first appearance on the soap back in 2000 was only meant to be temporary, but bosses loved his onscreen presence so much that they decided to keep him on board.
In 2019, he starred in I am a Celeb, finishing as runner up ad on the 20th anniversary of his time on Corrie arrived, he posted a picture on social media enjoying a dip in the hot tub with wife Nicola Willis.
