Hollyoaks will NEVER kill off Tony Hutchinson says boss – after soap legend escapes being murdered by serial killer Breda McQueen

The soap even removed actor Nick Pickard from the credits to confirm the status of Tony as dead.

But now boss Bryan has admitted Tony is now bullet proof on the show as the single original actor from the show's 25 year history.

He exclusively told The Sun Online: "We loved the reaction. We did.

"I don't think we fooled everyone, I think, again, what I love about our audience is that they're so switched on, knew from the start that we were not going to fool everyone.

"But we knew even if we wouldn't believe it, that they would hopefully enjoy in engaging in the conversation about whether we would ever do that to beloved Tony.

"Great reaction and yeah, it's certainly put Breda on the map."

He added: "Never ever did we consider killing Tony off!

"I'm obviously talking myself out of things again but no, we could never ever get rid of Tony.

He said: "Well, like all of those characters who live and make those choices, there is always a time limit, but we know where the end of the story is now."
