However Zoe is unable to host tonight’s instalment, with former Strictly contestant Gethin, 41, filling in for her.

Gethin – who competed in the 2007 series – usually appears on the show on Friday’s, catching up with the contestants while they’re rehearsing at Elstree Studios.

But tonight he will be in the main It Takes Two studio chatting to Will Bayley and Janette Manrara, Alex Scott and Neil Jones, and Dev Griffin and Dianne Buswell.

Ian Waite will also be at the studio as usual, as Waite’s Warm Up gets Strictly fans ready for the weekend.

It isn’t the first time Gethin has stood in for Zoe, as he acted as her replacement back in 2017 when she was off sick with a stomach bug.

Gethin was a hit with viewers at the time, with one writing on Twitter: “Gethin was fantastic. Can he stay permanently?” pleaded one viewer over Twitter.

Another wrote: “@ZoeTheBall get well soon missed you on ITT but Gethin did well and how funny to see him dancing with Ian!”

A third agreed, writing: “Great job tonight Gethin it was a real laugh, You can see the camaraderie you have with the couples. Ian seemed to enjoy himself too.”

Zoe’s illness has also forced her to miss her BBC Radio Two breakfast show, with Nicki Campbell standing in for her.

Writing on Twitter, Zoe said: “Gutted to say I’ve been taken down by a nasty bout of flu. Huge apologies for missing the R2 Breakfast Show & It Takes Two. Thanks to @Nicki_Chapman & @GethincJones for stepping in. Promise to be back ASAP. Sending love ❤️ to anyone else illin with this flu, it’s such a stinker.”

It Takes Two has undergone a number of changes this year, with Rylan, 30, joining the show to present on Mondays and Tuesdays because of Zoe’s early morning radio show.

It Takes Two returns to BBC One tonight at 5.15pm.
