The League of Gentlemen stars Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton to make debut on Celebrity Gogglebox this Friday
THEIR macabre brand of humour usually has viewers hiding behind the sofa – but now Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton will be sitting on one instead.
I can reveal the geniuses behind The League Of Gentlemen and Inside No. 9 will make their debut on Gogglebox this Friday.
The legendary comedy duo are the first of another batch of big names to be unveiled this week ahead of the Channel 4 show, airing at 9pm, which raises money for Stand Up To Cancer.
Steve and Reece said: “We are big Gogglebox fans and couldn’t be more chuffed to be on the sofa together.
“We have slightly questionable telly tastes but as it’s for an amazing cause hopefully the viewers will let it slide.
“Cancer affects too many of us and we need to pull together and put a stop to it.”
Reece and Steve will appear on the show alongside regular Gogglebox households including best friends Jenny and Lee, Blackpool brother and sister Pete and Sophie, and the Siddiquis.
I’m told others taking part include Nick Grimshaw and his niece Liv, Martin Kemp and radio presenter son Roman, and Denise Van Outen with her City trader fella Eddie Boxshall.
In recent years, producers on the Channel 4 show have booked some belting guests.
They had the likes of Naomi Campbell and Noel Gallagher, Dele Alli and Eric Dier, and Olly Murs and Niall Horan. And all for a great cause.

PADDY McGUINNESS has revealed the oddest moment he heard one of his catchphrases from Take Me Out, which returns to ITV on Saturday.
He said: “I was at a funeral when someone said to me, “Let the ashes see the urn”.
Steph's on the move
STEPH McGovern is starting a new family and a new career . . . hosting her own TV show.
The presenter, who is expecting her first child next month, stunned bosses by quitting BBC Breakfast to join rivals Channel 4.
The Steph Show will cover entertainment, lifestyle and current affairs in front of a live audience from the channel’s new HQ in Leeds.
Steph said: “I’m really chuffed to be creating my own live show. It will be nerve-racking.
"But there is nothing I love more than finding out what makes people tick, whether it’s a famous face or someone we haven’t met who has a cracking story to tell.
"This is a dream come true and I can’t wait to get started next year. Just a small matter of having a baby first.”

Jen gets a rise in celery
I WOULD put my mortgage on Piers Morgan's morning routine being different to Jennifer Aniston's.
The Friends star plays a breakfast news anchor in The Morning Show on Apple TV+ alongside Reese Witherspoon. And Jen has given an insight into how she starts the day.
You won’t be surprised to learn it doesn’t involve a fry-up or a trip to Greggs.
Jennifer told the Radio Times: “Today, I woke up and had a celery juice. I started to brew some coffee but I don’t drink coffee that early. I fed the dogs, meditated, then did a workout. THEN it was time for coffee.”
The actress, who said she works out five times a week, added: “I do intermittent fasting, so there’s no food in the morning.
“I noticed a big difference after going without solid food for 16 hours.” Me? I can go 16 minutes . . . at a push.

Sinead's goodbye
CORONATION Street actress Katie McGlynn says she wanted her character Sinead Osbourne to die because “life’s not a happy ending”.
In an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live podcast You, Me And The Big C, Katie said: “I protested against her surviving. I wanted her to die.
“I wanted a big bang and I wanted to rub it in people’s faces – yes it does happen, life isn’t a fairytale, people die.”
This week’s Corrie will end with two moving episodes focusing solely on the last day of Sinead’s short life and her farewell to her loved ones.
