Strictly Come Dancing’s AJ Pritchard and Saffron Barker BEGGED bosses to skip the Samba before getting voted off
STRICTLY’S AJ Pritchard and Saffron Barker begged BBC bosses to get out of dancing the Samba on before crashing out of the competition.
The pair lost out to BBC presenter Karim Zeroual, 26, in tonight’s dance off. All four Strictly judges voted to send AJ, 25, and YouTuber Saffron, 19, packing.
AJ has form with the South American routine and has previously been voted off twice after performing the dance on the BBC competition.
In their only interview after being booted off Saffron and AJ spoke exclusively to The Sun at the BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards today.
Saffron said: “We tried to get out of dancing the Samba but they wouldn’t let us.”
When asked if he was cursed, AJ added: “You should ask production if they think that.”
The pair ended up joint bottom on the leader board on Saturday night, with Craig Revel-Horwood angering AJ by giving them just a five out of ten for the routine.
AJ and Saffron scored just 26 points in total on the night, alongside Alex Scott and her professional partner Neil Jones.
AJ said of the mark handed down by Craig: “Saffron deserved more than a five, that’s for sure.
“But it is what it is, obviously Strictly is an entertainment show.”
An emotional Saffron thanked AJ at the end of tonight’s show and said: “I’ve had the absolute time of my life and it’s all down to him.
“It’s been amazing. I’d like to thank AJ so much, when I look at what I was like on week one I was so embarrassed and shy.
“He’s really taken me out of my shell. Thank you so much for everything.”
