Strictly’s Kelvin Fletcher infuriates Oti Mabuse by snubbing wedding anniversary to rehearse
STRICTLY star Kelvin Fletcher clashed with partner Oti Mabuse after insisting on missing his wedding anniversary to rehearse.
Pro dancer Oti, 29, urged Emmerdale’s Kelvin to take Thursday off to mark his fourth year with missus, Liz Marsland.
But Kelvin, 35, insisted on staying in London to practise their Beauty and the Beast-themed American Smooth routine for Musicals Week.
Oti was said to be furious, believing the decision would spark Strictly “curse” rumours.
But the couple, favourites to win, wowed the audiences in last night’s quarter-final showing the work paid off as they were awarded 39 points.
CBBC’s Karim Zeroual, 26, and Amy Dowden, 28, scored a perfect 40 jiving to Hairspray hit You Can’t Stop the Beat.
A source said: “All the celebrities were encouraged to be in London this week as that’s where the backing dancers are based.
“Oti knew it was Kelvin and Liz’s anniversary and was happy for him to go to Manchester, but he didn’t want to.
“He takes the show very seriously and didn’t want them to be behind the curve.
“However, Oti was worried his decision may be seen as a reflection on the state of his marriage and the rumour mill would start up.
"She hates the idea people could whisper about them being struck by the Strictly curse. She had a bit of a meltdown about it.”
Kelvin, who has a baby and tot with Liz, and Oti were pictured sharing a hug this week after practising late.
The source said: “Oti was upset at the photos. She was worried people would gossip — but she laughed it off after a while.

“She and Kelvin have a great relationship and are focused on doing their best.”
During last night’s show Alex Scott, 35, and Neil Jones, 37, did a Samba to Sister Act number Joyful, Joyful, while Emma Barton, 42, and Anton du Beke, 53, did a Charleston to Thoroughly Modern Millie.
Chris Ramsey, 33, and Karen Hauer, 37, performed a Foxtrot to Oliver’s Consider Yourself.
