Coronation Street’s Mikey North reveals his wife was so high on drugs she tried it on with him during ‘bizarre’ labour

CORONATION Street's Mikey North has revealed that his wife Rachael was so high on drugs she tried it on with him during her "bizarre" labour.

At the weekend, the 33-year-old star, who plays Gary Windass in the ITV soap, revealed that he and Rachael had welcomed daughter Eliza back in September.

Opening up about their bundle of joy's arrival into the world, 34-year-old Rachael shared: "It was so bizarre going into hospital knowing I was going to have a baby as opposed to going into labour naturally.

"It was like having a casual appointment and then leaving with a baby!"

Mikey teased that his wife was so high on painkillers that she became totally disorientated, telling: "She was on another planet and tried it on with me!

"I was like: 'Rach, you’re in labour, it’s probably not the right time and that’s how we got in this mess in the first place!'"

He later added: "I’m the worst birthing partner in the world, I was just nervously pacing around the whole time and Rach shouted at me to sit down."

Mikey and Rachael met in a bar in 2013, tying the knot three years later.

They welcomed son Archie in 2017, but the traumatic birth left Rachael being forced to undergo an episiotomy, which saw her lose one and a half litres of blood.

Mikey revealed that they were expecting another child in July.

He said at the time: "We’ve just moved house and put the name on the wallpaper that Rachael has chosen.

"Archie wouldn’t let us call her anything else anyway, so he partly chose the name. But we’re keeping it a secret."

Mikey went on to insist that that they wouldn’t have any more children, saying: "I would be highly surprised if we had any more. Two is a great number."

The star joined Coronation Street as Gary in 2008, after small roles in Waterloo Road and Britannia High.
