Taylor Swift stuns at Cats premiere with fellow stars on red carpet ahead of ‘creepy’ musical’s release
TAYLOR Swift dazzled during the premiere of Cats at the Lincoln Center in New York City on Monday – as she joined fellow stars ahead of the “creepy” musical’s release.
The 30-year-old singer wore a red and black floral gown with her staple red lipstick as she walked the black carpet during the world premiere of the movie.
The Lover singer arrived to the highly anticipated debut with her fellow castmates, but she stunned with her braided updo, floral dress, and simple makeup.
She was recently nominated for a Golden Globe for her original song Beautiful Ghosts in the movie.
Taylor talked about the nomination during the premiere and said: “I’m so stoked to go to the Golden Globes and it’s really exciting that they nominated us.”
She also talked about how it felt to collaborate with the musical’s Andrew Lloyd Webber and said he was one of the best writers she’s worked with.
Carpool host James Corden also walked the carpet in a blue plaid suit, while Jennifer Hudson wore a sleek bob and lacey navy blue dress.
The newlywed actor Idris Elba was also there with his wife Sabrina Dhowre Elba in matching blue attires.
The singer Jason Derulo, who had everyone talking about his “anaconda,” also joined the rest of his castmates. He wore a fur-lined red suit jacket with an all-black outfit.
Rebel Wilson, who had to followed suit in a sparkly-black dress.
Other stars present at the movie premiere were music producer Nile Rodgers and Booksmart actress Beanie Feldstein.
Cats will premiere in the United States on December 20, 2019.
It has a star-studded cast, which includes Taylor Swift, Jason Derulo, Jennifer Hudson, Rebel Wilson, Idis Elba, Sir Ian McKellen, Dame Judy Dench, and Francesca Hayward.
However, the latest trailer terrified fans, with some even claiming they couldn’t bear to watch it.
The musical caused one fan to gasp: “Taylor shimmying and her cat boobs shaking is truly the strangest and potentially creepiest thing I have seen.”
The cast had their faces and bodies covered in computer-generated fur, but plenty of fans were left feeling unnerved by the CGI creations.
One tweeted: “I’ve had nightmares less scary than the new Cats trailer.”
Another said: “The Cats trailer was scary on my phone. Now I’ve seen it on the big screen and I want to go home.“
A first look of the movie was released in July and fans were just as scared back then.
Film critic Scott Mendelson tweeted the trailer was “appropriately terrifying and insane, like a drug-induced nightmare.” However, he added: “I can’t wait!”
The film – directed by Brit Oscar-winner Tom Hooper – is the first movie adaptation of .
Based on the poems of TS Eliot, Cats opened in 1981 and became one of the longest-running shows on both Broadway and London’s West End.
In a behind-the-scenes video, Oscar-winner Judi Dench called the film “an Alice in Wonderland experience.”
Taylor, known for her love of cats, said cast members did extensive movement workshops to embody their feline characters.
She said in a behind-the-scenes clip: “As a cat lover, and a cat owner, he (Hooper) told me I was going to get to go to cat school every day. For work! What?!”
