RHOBH’s Erika Jayne reveals ALL housewives invited to Broadway debut: ‘a ticket is a ticket sale!’
REAL Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika “Jayne” Girardi, who is making her Broadway debut in Chicago next month, said EVERY housewife is invited to her opening night.
The performer told The Sun Online she's been rehearsing for the show in New York for the last six days and that she hopes to see all of her RHOBH co-stars in the audience.
Erika said: “Listen they’re all invited- every one of them. So please come.”
That means even former castmates, like OG Lisa Vanderpump, who left the show last season, are welcome to attend a performance.
Erika said: “Why? Are you kidding me money’s money. A ticket is a ticket sale.”
Lisa departed during season 9 before filming the reunion.
Her dramatic exit followed last season’s “Puppygate” scandal, which saw once long-time friend and co-star Kyle Richards accuse Lisa of lying about a dog adoption gone wrong.
Now appearing in a different kind of drama, Erika is playing Roxie Hart, an aspiring performer, who ends up in jail after killing a man she’s having an affair with, in the musical revival.
Listen they’re all invited. Every one of them. So please come
Erika Jayne
She joins Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Nene Leakes and Kandi Burruss and RHOBH costar Lisa Rinna, who have all starred in the John Kander and Fred Ebb Tony Award-winning musical.
Lisa also previously played Roxie on Broadway.
Having been in Erika’s shoes, making her Broadway debut in the show, she was definitely someone Erika could turn to for advice.
However Erika relayed she didn’t remember some of the more demanding parts of the show.
Erika said: “She forgot to tell me about the ladder in ‘Funny Honey.’
“So I text her the other day, and I was like girl why didn’t you tell me this s**t is scary.”
Erika added: “She [Lisa] said ‘I must have blocked it out.’ And I was like, 'honey, no you didn’t'”
That aside, Lisa told Erika that her upcoming run would be one of the ‘most wonderful times in her life.’
Kandi Burruss agreed, texting Erika to congratulate her when her casting was announced that the production would be ‘great for her.’
Erika’s journey to Broadway will be covered on the upcoming season of RHOBH.
That doesn’t mean audiences will see Erika’s signature dance move ‘pat the p**s’ worked into the musical’s famous Bob Fosse choreography.
Erika confirmed: “No, absolutely not.”
The long-time performer attended a performing arts high school in Atlanta, appearing in musicals like A Chorus Line and Pippin.
Since then the "Xxpen$ive" and "How Many F***s" singer has had several number one Billboard singles and toured the world as her alter-ego, Erika Jayne.
But she said it’s still been an opportunity of a lifetime and a great honor to be making her Broadway debut.
She said: “There’s nothing like Broadway. This is one of the all time dreams of any performer. This is the big time.”
PREPARING FOR BROADWAY
And the 48-year-old, who’s married to high-profile trial attorney Tom Girardi, said her husband of 20-years is also a musical theatre fan and is looking forward to see how she makes the iconic role her own.
She said: “I think I'm going to bring a certain level of sassiness and playfulness and fun and devilish humor…
Erika added: “I’m a survivor. Roxie’s a survivor. There’s a survivor in all of us. Listen we’ve all been up and down.”
But for now, Erika is just being a ‘disciplined’ thespian, who’s not doing much more than sleeping and working as she gears up for up for the eight shows a week run.
So she’s had no time to take in other Broadway shows.
The new musical, Moulin Rouge, will be the first on her list once she has some time off.
When asked if the show could be her next Broadway foray, Erika coyly replied: “Maybe."
Erika will be playing Roxie Hart in Chicago from January 6 through March 29 at the Ambassador Theatre.
