New Star Wars films have been confirmed after Rise of Skywalker – here are the release dates and plot details
STAR Wars: Rise of Skywalker has FINALLY hit UK cinemas, but now fans are begging for more.
The good news for movie-goers is that Disney say there are more spin off movies in the pipeline.
When will the next Star Wars movies be released?
Make sure you savour every last drop of Rise of Skywalker as this is your lot... for a while.
Disney have proposed THREE new 'Star Wars Story' movies, but the untitled films will have a staggered release.
You won't have another instalment from the Star Wars movie franchise until 2022.
After this the second one will be released in 2024 before third in 2026.
Do we know the plots for any of the new Star Wars movies?
No plots been released for the new movies yet, so we don't know which direction Disney are going with them.
Although they won't be connected to the Skywalker saga, the new films could be based on the early or later life of one of the beloved characters from this saga - like the Han Solo movie.
Or they could be similar to Rouge One which was its own story, but had lots of Star Wars Easter eggs like the Empire and the Death Star.
Why is there going to be such a big gap between all the new Star Wars movies?
Disney decided to put the brakes on its plans for more sequels and spin-offs after Solo: A Star Wars Story bombed in cinemas.
Disney CEO Bob Iger told : "I take the blame. It was a little too much, too fast.”
Announcing a “slowdown” in the production schedule, Bob confirmed that he was rethinking the future of Star Wars, post-The Rise Of Skywalker, saying: “I think we’re gonna be a little bit more careful about volume and timing. And the buck stops here on that.”

Why do some people think that The Rise of Skywalker is the last film in the franchise?
Some movie goers have been a little confused over whether The Rise of Skywalker is the last Star Wars film.
It ISN'T the last ever Star Wars movie but it IS the last film in the Skywalker saga.
This means the story told from Episode One to Episode Nine is coming to an end.
However there are plenty more Star Wars stories to be told.
