Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara in talks to replace Gabrielle Union on America’s Got Talent
MODERN Family star Sofia Vergara has her foot in the door to replace Gabrielle Union following the controversy over the America’s Got Talent judge’s exit, it has been claimed.
Sofia, 47, is one of the best paid actresses in the world thanks to her role as Gloria Pritchett in the long-running American sitcom, and Page Six reports she’s already been grilled in a “two hour meeting” for the AGT role.
The American website states she discussed “not only the reality competition show, but other potential opportunities with the network” during the chat with NBC president Paul Telegdy and “AGT” production company, Fremantle.
It also claimed Spanish-speaking shows were in the pipeline.
It remains to be seen whether Sofia will be appointed by bosses for the new series, with no firm decision made.
The panel shake-up for Simon Cowell’s show came after Gabrielle’s exit, after just the single series as judge, was shrouded in controversy.
The axed TV star, 47, is threatening legal action according to , after the controversial suggestions she claims were made by NBC and Freemantle producers about both her clothing and her hairstyle.
Gabrielle claims she was told these were “too black” by members of the show’s production staff.
Gabrielle is an American voice artist, actress and author and was a judge on AGT’s 14th season, in 2019, after replacing Spice Girl Mel B.
Her contract was not renewed in November.
This month, the star opened up on what she brands a “toxic” working environment on the show Stateside, during her allegations against NBC and Freemantle.
A source close to Gabrielle told The Mail on Sunday of her complaint, and said she was in talks with Simon’s team and broadcaster NBC, to thrash out a solution.
This year, 22-year-old vocalist Kodi Lee was crowned winner of the series.
