The Walking Dead fans stunned as behind-the-scenes pic reveals what katana swords look like without CGI
THE Walking Dead has offered fans a rare glimpse at what the cast’s weapons looks like without visual effects.
Katana queen Michonne has long been known for her impressive martial skills, beheading walkers aplenty with ease.
In season 10 we saw how the fierce warrior passed down her craft to step-daughter Judith, who demonstrated some impressive swordsmanship herself.
Not only did she help dispatch the walkers on the beach during episode 1, in the midseason finale we saw her take down Virgil with a swift slice to the leg.
The idea of Judith actress Cailey Fleming, who is just 12 years old, running around with a katana is no doubt an alarming notion to many.
So to dispel any concerns, show bosses revealed exactly what the child star wields during her action sequences.

The Walking Dead’s official Instagram account shared a snap of Cailey wielding a handle of a sword with a small blunt blade covered in green tape sticking out of the end.
Evidently the sharp end of the blade is superimposed in the editing stage with CGI.
However another snap does see Cailey posing with what looks to be a longer weapon, so it seems she’s allowed to hold a sword as a prop away from action sequences.
“From lil ass kicker to demon with a sword,” the accompanying caption reads.
“Knives out, y’all.”
Suffice to say fans were surprised to learn that the action sequences were the result of editing wizardry.
“Couldn’t they buy or make a fake lightweight katana and not waste money on green screen?” one commenter asked.
“So if the sword that Judith used CGO?!” a second exclaimed.
While a third referenced one of her step-mother’s famous lines, “Michonne and her Katana: ‘Am I a joke for you?’”
The post comes after Cailey teased Negan’s epic betrayal of leader of The Whisperers Alpha in the second half of season 10.
She also discussed the impact of Michonne’s exit and Maggie’s hotly-anticipated comeback.
The Walking Dead returns to FOX and NOW TV in the UK on February 24.
