PETE'S SAKE

Paddy McGuinness deletes tweet making fun of pal Peter Kay for talking in the third person in rant at Channel 5

PADDY McGuinness has deleted his tweet mocking pal Peter Kay for speaking in the third person after the comedian posted a statement slamming a "misleading" Channel 5 show.

Peter was pictured for the first time in eight months on Friday then broke his social media silence to insist a new documentary was not in his "own words" as advertised.

A message to Peter's 746,000 Twitter followers read: "Very flattering of Channel 5 to commission the programme going out tonight, but just to let people know that Peter Kay: In His Own Words has an incredibly misleading title, as it doesn't feature any new interviews with Peter and all the footage is completely historic."

It added: "The title also gives the impression that Peter has been involved in the making of this documentary, which he hasn't. At all."

In response, Peter's pal Paddy tweeted: "Never mind that. When did you start speaking in the third person?"

However, the jokey tweet mysteriously disappeared just hours later.

Paddy, 46, and Peter, also 46, first met when they were schoolboys in Lancashire, with Paddy finding fame after Peter invited him to appear in his programmes such as That Peter Kay Thing, Phoenix Nights, and Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere.

Peter's tweet was the first sent out on the comic's official page since October 11.

He has kept a low profile ever since he cancelled all of his upcoming work commitments in December 2017 due to "unforeseen family circumstances".

Peter was, however, pictured backstage with Tommy Cannon, 81, Bobby Ball, 75, and X Factor’s Chico Slimani, 48, at Peter Pan in Crewe on Friday.
