THE Crown writer says Gillian Anderson is 'fierce and brilliant' as Margaret Thatcher in season four.
The X Files actress was confirmed to play the formidable British Prime Minister back in September and Gillian has since been seen on location filming scenes.
While season three of The Crown dropped on Netflix last month, the show's writer Peter Morgan has teased what fans can expect from Gillian's portrayal.
He told Variety: "She is fierce and brilliant."
Peter also spoke about Margaret's legendary bouffant hairstyle, which Gillian was seen sporting on set in Spain in October.
Of seeing the actress in full costume for the first time, he said: "That was a scary experience.
"It is [a lot of hair]. It's candyfloss, a sort of candyfloss helmet which protects her from falling masonry."
Peter previously revealed more about the dynamic between Britain's first female Prime Minister and The Queen.
Speaking on The Crown's official podcast, Peter said: "[Thatcher is a] twin. Because they’re six months apart.
"That’s very much one of those emblems, the eagle with two heads, facing in opposite directions. A lot of similarities and a lot of differences.

"Sometimes the things that you think will bring two people together actually drives them apart."
During her long reign, the Queen has had 14 Prime Ministers swear their allegiance to her, with Winston Churchill being her first, and Boris Johnson being the most recent.
The Crown season 1-3 is available to stream on Netflix now.
