STRANGER Things fans think the Russians left a major clue that proves Hopper is still alive in season four.
The Netflix show's third season came to an end with Hopper (David Harbour) seemingly perishing in a blast as he sacrificed himself to save the residents of Hawkins from the Upside Down.
However there have been numerous clues since that the character somehow survived the explosion, and an extra scene after the credits did reveal the Russians are holding someone called The American captive.
Now an eagle-eyed fan has picked up on another clue which they believe proves Hopper is alive and well.
In the first episode of season three, the Russians activated the device which later appeared to kill Hopper, with the people in its range being pulverised into mush on the ground.
But writing on Reddit, the fan pointed out: "When Joyce is approaching the spot where Hopper was standing we get a shot aimed directly at the floor showing it to be completely spotless. Nothing anywhere."
Not only that, but they believe the cut to black before the explosion was significant too.
They continued: "And about that cut to black before the explosion. The length of the black screen was intentional.
"We’re meant to feel it. It was 6 whole seconds long. Long enough for him to have made the leap into the Upside Down.
"He is very familiar with Gates as we know and there is a shot of him looking back at it before the explosion only to be found by Brenner and the Russians sometime during the three months that pass.

"They were buying out Mayor Kline and purchasing land everywhere (more Gates?) so this could have happened anywhere if not in Russia somehow through the Upside Down.
"Note that the man says – “No. Not the American.” meaning they have use for him."
The fan believes Hopper's connection to Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) is also a factor, adding: "Hopper is a direct link to Eleven.
"Brenner knows this and will probably want Eleven back or have some other use for her which is more than enough reason to keep Hopper alive instead of feeding him to their Demogorgons."
Stranger Things series 1-3 is available now on Netflix.
