The Walking Dead offers first look at Michonne in second half of season 10 after sailing off with Virgil
THE Walking Dead will return to screens next month for a run of episodes that will be Michonne’s last.
Michonne (Danai Gurira) will be bowing out of the long-running AMC drama later this year and fans have been desperate to know whether she’ll be killed off in true zombie apocalypse fashion.
During the season 10 midseason finale, Michonne opted to sail off with new character Virgil, who promised the allied communities weapons in exchange for the use of a boat to get home.
In an exclusive image obtained by TVLine, fans get their first bit of insight into what lays in store for Michonne at the other end of the trip.
Michonne and Virgil are seen making their way into the island’s naval base, as promised.
Michonne clutches a torch, wears a blood-stained top and sports a look of horror as she stares into a darkened corner of a room.
Meanwhile Virgil stand behind her, his hand clutching the door.
Could he be about to lock her inside, or is he simply showing her the way?
The image will no doubt stoke fans’ fears that Michonne will be betrayed by Virgil as the deal with Oceanside backfires.
Kevin Carroll, who plays Virgil, even hinted as much himself.
“I just want to tell [fans] that in this world of The Walking Dead, anything is possible,” he told TV Insider.
“At this point I’m just excited for Virgil to get on the map, and start to mix it up in this world,” he continued.
“I am anxiously hoping that the fans can appreciate what this journey is about to be.
“For people who love Michonne, this will be a rewarding piece of the journey for her. I think they’re going to have a good time with the twists and turns of this story.”

When pressed further about what he meant by “twists and turns” he added fuel to the fire, replying: “Every facet of humanity is up for grabs because of everybody’s need to survive.
“I’m going to leave it at that, and tell them to have a great time figuring it out.”
We’ll have to wait until February 24, when The Walking Dead returns, to get any answers.
