THE BBC confirmed Killing Eve and Line of Duty will both return in their thrilling trailer showcasing the shows of 2020.

BBC One dropped the trailer earlier today (January 3), revealing that a lot of fan favourites will be coming back this year.

As well as the two international hits, they also advertised new seasons of New Girl starring Michelle Keegan, Little Mix's BBC show The Search and the return of His Dark Materials.

There's also Peter Kay's show Comedy Shuffle, The Wall presented by Danny Dyer and a new season of Call the Midwife.

Returning for its sixth season, Line of Duty follows police officers Steve Arnott and Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure) as they investigate possible corruption in the Central Police force.

Line of Duty is already being teased by the cast and crew, with Martin Compston - who plays Detective Steve Arnott - shared the first page of his script on Instagram.

The trailer showcased some of the upcoming shows on the BBC

He captioned the photo: "Guys... I'm scared."

All that is visible on the page is: "Line of Duty 6

"Written by Jed Mercurio. Episode 1".

Despite this, the star's followers could hardly contain their excitement as they commented on the post.

One wrote: "You are scared??? I've just peed myself with excitement."

Another added: "I hope [show creator] Jed is good this year - he's been through the mill! Mind you - that's a credit to you as he knows you can pull off anything he throws at you on screen."

This came days after show creator Jed dropped a big plot hint on his social media.

He shared a picture of Aussie Tim Tam biscuits being broken in two alongside the Line Of Duty hashtag and: "Series 6 Plot Clue No. 1."

Meanwhile, Killing Eve has already been filmed, with the stars being spotted around London.

The popular show - which first hit our screens back in April 2018 and stars Jodie Comer, 26 and Sandra Oh, 48 - was seen being filmed in the Bar Malden, in the New Malden area of the capital.

The show follows disheartened MI5 security officer Eve as she is tasked with hunting down the psychopathic assassin Villanelle.
