Elton John ‘left hanging’ after Taron Egerton accidentally ignores him during Rocketman win at Golden Globes
TARON Egerton owes Elton John huge amounts after finding fame playing the singer in a movie about his life - yet appeared to forget to thank him when awarded his Rocketman Golden Globes gong.
The Brit, 30, played a young Elton in this year's biopic and was rewarded for his sizzling on-screen performance with the award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.
He sat next but one on a table to Elton as tensions built before the winner was revealed.
A female voice over the loudspeaker announced the 30-year-old's triumph and he jumped out of his chair, with a smile on his face.
Elton could be seen literally bouncing up and down with delight, with his husband David Furnish appearing equally chuffed.
He was clearly elated for his actor mate and wanted to share in his iconic happy moment.
Yet caught up in the emotion, Taron appeared to inadvertently blank Elton altogether.
He firstly kissed the hand of a male by his side before giving a brunette female a huge hug.
Elton, wearing a signature snazzy pair of glasses, still cheered on yet when it became apparent Taron would have to go on stage to collect his accolade, his face turned rather more solemn.
Taron has spoken about his close friendship with Elton numerous times, so it is clear his snub was simply a mistake in the spur of the moment.
Yet this did not stop fans from sharing their opinion on Twitter, with one posting a clip of the action and the words: "HOW YOU GONNA LEAVE ELTON JOHN HANGING AFTER WINNING AN AWARD FOR PLAYING ELTON JOHN."
Another raged: "Seriously, that was so wrong 🤦🏻♂️"
One then put: "Oh no... Happy Elton is gonna turn into Cranky Elton."
A judgemental fan then surmised: "That was so unclassy!"

Prior to his awards success, Taron revealed that the singing icon took him aside ahead of his role in the biopic, as he spoke on the red carpet.
He said the Tiny Dancer hit-maker had said things he couldn't repeat, when they met ahead of making Rocketman - which is also nominated for Best Movie.
"He told me not to sound like him, he told me to take it my own", he told E!'s Ryan Seacrest.
"And he told me a lot of things that don't bear repeating on camera because that is his way," he added, with a laugh.
