The Big Bang Theory fans notice bizarre plot hole with Amy and Penny’s painting
FANS of The Big Bang Theory are among the most eagle-eyed people online.
The CBS sitcom, which wrapped last year, has been picked apart ever since hitting Netflix as viewers put old episodes under the microscope.
The latest blunder to be unearthed features the Penny Hofstadter (Kaley Cuoco) and Amy Farrah Fowler’s (Mayim Bialik) eerie portrait.
The painting - which isn’t exactly easy to miss given its size and prominent positioning on set - has left fans scratching their heads after seemingly teleporting to different locations with no explanation.
Looking back at Sheldon Cooper’s(Jim Parsons) proposal to Amy, there’s a moment when Penny pulls him aside for a heart to heart chat in her old apartment, where the pair now live.
Penny explains that Nowitzki has a crush on him, something he’s completely oblivious to.

When Sheldon pops to the bathroom to gather his thoughts, Penny looks up at the painting and quips: “Don’t look at me like that, I tried.”
This may seem innocent enough at first, but one keen Reddit user explained something was amiss with the painting.
“So, I am really hooked and I’ve watched the entire series many times. And I just spotted this plot hole,” they began.
“In the first half, Amy and Sheldon bring the painting of Amy and Penny to Leonard and Penny’s apartment. At the end of the episode, we see that Penny and Leonard set up the painting in their apartment,” they continued.
“Which brings us to the conclusion that the painting is no longer in Penny’s old apartment where Sheldon and Amy are living.
“So am I wrong in this case? Or am I missing something? As far as I remember there was no episode in between where the painting gets exchanged.”
Indeed, it does seem strange that the famously observant Sheldon hadn’t noticed the relocation of the painting and commented on it.
The post received hundreds of upvotes as other chimed in with messages of agreement.
“You’re not wrong, yet another oversight,” one user wrote, alongside an eye roll emoji.
“I’d say sack the producers but it’s already finished!” a second joked.
It’s not the only blunder fans have noticed in recent weeks.
Elsewhere, they spotted a major oversight after Penny’s mother was fat-shamed by Sheldon.
They also noticed some inconsistencies with Howard’s childhood during a flashback to his bedroom.
