Corrie viewers have watched new parents Gemma and Chesney struggle to cope with their quadruplet babies since Gemma went into labour while stuck on a cable car last year.

The couple were struggling financially and were overjoyed when they landed a five-figure advertising deal from Freshcos to help pay for the children.

But the campaign isn’t going as smoothly as the struggling parents hoped.

In an upcoming episode, Tara calls round at Chesney’s and Gemma’s and drops off the itinerary for tomorrow’s Freshco photoshoot.

But Gemma realises that the photoshoot clashes with Aled’s hearing appointment.

Gemma speaks to Chesney and insists that the photoshoot needs to be rescheduled.

But Tara is far from understanding and makes it clear that if they don’t show up, they won’t get paid.

Later in the week, the doctor reschedules Aled’s appointment.

Gemma and Chesney are now free to go to the Freshco photoshoot, but Gemma becomes increasingly unsure and upset about the situation when Aled starts to cry.

During the event, Chesney reaches boiling point and grabs the mic.

He points out that the whole campaign is a farce and that the reality of looking after four babies is far from a walk in the park.

Tara is furious and tells him he’s ruined the brand before announcing that she’s terminating their contract with immediate effect.

Desperate Chesney rushes to the kebab shop and begs Dev for his job back - but will he say yes?

Later in the week, Gemma takes Aled for his appointment and is stunned when the audiologist confirms that the baby has permanent hearing loss in both ears.

As both take in the news, Gemma expresses her sadness that Aled has never heard her say that she loves him.

Gemma quickly begins to blame herself for the diagnosis but Chesney comforts her and tells her they’ll get through it together.

Corrie bosses have worked with Trafford Deaf Children's Society have taken advice from Great Ormond Street hospital in an attempt to make the storyline as accurate as possible.

The soap is also being led by the Head of Audiology services at Trafford General Hospital Dr Greg Nassar.

A Corrie spokeswoman told The Sun Online: "This is a very important story to tell and will resonate with many parents who have gone through their children being diagnosed with hearing problems and the challenges that this throws up for the child, the parents and the whole family."
