Gordon the Gopher says he’s ‘proud’ of Phillip Schofield and blasts his trolls in four-letter rant
GORDON the Gopher has said he’s “proud” of his former co-host Phillip Schofield for coming out as gay.
The Twitter account for the puppet, who worked alongside the presenter in CBBC’s The Broom Cupboard and Going Live for many years, also blasted cruel trolls who were mocking Phil.
Sharing a picture of them together, Gordon wrote: “It took a lot of courage from @Schofe today, very proud of him #schofe #thismorning #holly #schofield #gordonthegopher.”
But it wasn’t long until he started receiving nasty comments from trolls about Phillip.
One person produced a video with the puppet squeaking and captioned it: “Breaking – Gordon the Gopher has just released a statement about Phillip Schofield #BreakingNews.’’
Gordon replied: “Translation: Proud of him so stop taking the p*** you sad set of w***ers.”
On Friday Phillip, 57, revealed he is gay in a moving Instagram post before an emotional appearance on This Morning with Holly Willoughby.
He was inundated with support from fans – including Little Britain star Matt Lucas who couldn’t resist mentioning Gordon the Gopher.
Matt tweeted: "I'm not surprised about Philip Schofield. Growing up I remember him presenting with Gordon the Gopher from inside that closet!
