THE first trailer for Power Book II: Ghost has been released and sees Tariq running through Stansfield University in a hurry while Tasha seethes behind bars.
The new teaser comes after the original series concluded earlier this week on Netflix following months of speculation about who shot James ‘Ghost’ St Patrick.
Viewers were left reeling to learn that it was in fact Ghost's (Omari Hardwick) son Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr) who gunned him down in his nightclub.
However, it was Tasha (Naturi Naughton) who was wrongly detained for the crime, meaning Tariq literally got away with murder.
And now in the first teaser for the upcoming spin-off, which picks up days after the finale, fans see the return of Tasha and Tariq St Patrick and their life post-Ghost.
Still reeling from her wrongful imprisonment, Tasha is seen seething behind bars in an orange jumpsuit while Tariq presumably is running to class to keep up his 3.5GPA to gain access to his trust.
Elsewhere, viewers get their first glimpse of Mary J Blige's character Monet, who is seen standing next to a table filled with wads of cash.
Detective Cooper Saxe (Shane Johnson) is back for the series while fans see the arrival of newcomer Cliff 'Method Man' Smith as Davis MacLean.
For those fearing it won't live up to the original, executive producer Courtney Kemp told fans to expect plenty of Power elements in the spin-off.
"It will definitely have a lot of the same elements that you're used to from Power in terms of criminality, sex, romance, and the legal system," confirmed Kemp to .
"Every scene is still about power."
The new series comes after Power also announced another three spin-off series fronted by Tommy, Kanan and Tate.
One is called Power Book III: Raising Kanan and is a prequel to Power set in the 1990s.
It will chronicle the early years of Kanan Stark, played in Power by executive producer Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson.
