Disney branded ‘demonic and evil’ for new cartoon The Owl House by outraged parents
DISNEY'S new cartoon The Owl House has been slammed by outraged parents who have branded the cartoon 'demonic and evil.'
After hitting our screens on the Disney Channel last month, the Conservative Christian activist group One Million Moms has gone on to brand the series "demonic" - and have urged readers to sign their petition to cancel the show.
A further 16,000 individuals have agreed with the activist group as they believe that there are themes of witchcraft and the demonic portrayed in the programme.
The cartoon, which was created by Dana Terrace, follows the story of Luz Noceda, a teenage girl who stumbles through a portal to another world called the Boiling Isles - instead of going to her original destination - Reality Check Camp.
By chance she befriends witch Eda the Owl Lady and the 14-year-old decides that she wants to become a witch by serving as Eda's apprentice at the Owl House, despite having no magical abilities.
Disney have described the programme as: "Luz, a self-assured teenage human girl, stumbles upon a portal to a magical new world where she befriends a rebellious witch, Eda, and an adorably tiny warrior, King."
However, One Million Moms don't agree with the description they have used and aren't happy that the show is all set for a second series.
The Christian activist group, who are fed up with the "filth" that the entertainment industry throw at younger audiences have described the cartoon as: "In The Owl House, Disney introduces kids to a world of demons, witches, and sorcery while inundating their young minds with secular worldviews that reflect the current culture."
They added: "The show makes light of hell and the dangers of the demonic realm. Even the previews and commercials include such content that makes it difficult for families who watch Disney Channel to avoid the evil content completely."
One Million Moms have made it their mission to stop the exploitation of children in the entertainment industry.
Their website states: "Our goal is to stop the exploitation of our children, especially by the entertainment media (TV, music, movies, etc.). Mom, OneMillionMoms.com is the most powerful tool you have to stand against the immorality, violence, vulgarity and profanity the entertainment media is throwing at your children. It is time to fight back!"
And this isn't the first time that the Christian group have pointed out their disappointment with other Disney favourites - they weren't happy with the sexually charged jokes that were used in The Muppets and even tried to boycott the latest Toy Story film and new series Star Wars Resistance for it's LGBTQ+ undertones.
However, it's not just Disney that they seem to have a problem with - the group have also slammed Burger King for the use of the "d-word" for their advert about the plant-based Impossible Whopper.
