The Stranger’s Anthony Head lifts lid on Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot – and what Giles is up to now
THE Stranger’s Anthony Head has lifted the lid on a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot – and what Giles the Watcher is up to now.
The 65-year-old played the character in the hit supernatural series from 1997 until 2003.
While he's now playing an unsavoury role in hit Netflix series, The Stranger, Anthony still holds his Buffy years close to his heart.
As Buffy is one of many shows currently in the mix for a reboot, Anthony told the New York Post he would return to the show if he was asked.
He said: "I wouldn't know what as, because Giles has aged a little bit.
"Maybe I'm the head of the Watchers Council now. But to be honest, of course I would. It was so formative."
Despite the show ending over 15 years ago, Anthony said fans of all ages still come up to him to talk about the series.
He said: "It does span the generations. I still don't understand how it never came away with any Emmys, or any of those awards.
"People [tell me] how much it meant to them at the time they were growing up, how it resonated, and bless them.
"They quite often say Giles was the father figure that was missing in their lives for various reasons.

"I think that's part of its longevity. It hit home. It's quite remarkable."
Anthony isn't the only original cast member who supports a Buffy reboot.
Sarah Michelle Gellar - who played the titular character - recently defended the move, saying: "At the end of the day, it's all about great storytelling. If a story lives on, then I think it should be told in any incarnation it can be told in."
Buffy the Vampire Slayer seasons 1-7 are available to watch on Amazon Prime.
