where filming is taking place, Pegg, 50, described the chaos as he quipped: "Not in Venice, that’s where I’m supposed to be.

"Paramount were very cautious and sensible I think and pulled the production out of Venice. It’s a big group of people, we were shooting carnival sequences and it was just unwise to remain so we bugged out.

"I think it would be indelicate to complain about anything other than the fact that there was a lot of disruption for everyone."

The cast, along with action superstar Tom, 57, were evacuated from the new Mission: Impossible movie in Venice — deemed a high-risk area by Italian authorities.

A production source revealed the cast and crew were “frightened” as the coronavirus death toll in Italy reached seven.

They told The Sun: “There have been meetings with officials but they’re clear that, as far as they are concerned, there is a serious risk in the area, especially where large numbers are gathered — and this is a huge set.
