KATY Perry has admitted she had to announce her pregnancy because she was getting "way too fat" to hide her baby bump
The 35-year-old singer added that it wasn't hard to conceal the exciting news from her friends because she's "always been curvy" and no-one suspected a thing.
Katy announced she's pregnant with her first child with fiancé Orlando Bloom via the music video for her new song Never Worn White.
Discussing the baby news on she admitted that Never Worn White was her song reveal because she was getting too big to wait for another one.
"This song is not the lead single from my next record," the Dark Horse singer confessed.
"I was getting way too fat to hide it and so I was like, 'well, I think this song will be a great reveal and let's just start there.'"
Katy, who is thought to be around six months pregnant, added that most of her pals just thought she'd put on weight.
"Nobody really knew because I've always been curvy and I've never liked crunches," she joked.
"So they just thought I was curvy and hungry and yes - I was curvy and hungry."
The Teenage Dream singer - who hid her pregnancy using big bags - also confirmed that the baby news was planned.
She said: "Well it wasn't an accident. I'm so grateful for everything I've been able to do and achieve and all the goals I've been able to check off my list.
"I think I've been trying to create this space in my own life where I'm not running myself too ragged, creating space for something new to happen like this."
The Teenage Dream added: "We [her and Orlando] were both looking forward to this new interval of life and sharing this."
The Santa Barbara native also opened up on the unique way she shared her baby news with friends and family.
Ever the creative, Katy revealed that she'd go round to friends' houses with a customised bottle of wine that had the baby announcement on the label as a present.
"I actually put the news on a wine label and I would bring a bottle of wine with a bespoke label that said to it," she explained.
However, her mom Mary clocked the label straight away.
Katy recalled: "My mom - it was so weird - she just came over and was looking at my wine and she was like, 'What is this?!'
"I was like, 'well you've ruined the surprise.' I guess moms have that intuition like no other."
