Penance viewers left blushing by Julie Graham’s raunchy dreams about much younger man
PENANCE viewers have ben left blushing by Julie Graham’s raunchy dreams about a much younger man.
The Channel 5 drama began on Tuesday night and follows Julie's character Rosalie - a grieving mother who is attracted to a much younger guy.
Things are further complicated by the fact the man - Jed - looks just like her dead son Rob, who passed away in Thailand.
The pair met at a group grief counselling session and in Wednesday's episode, Julie was overcome with lust-filled dreams about the mysterious newcomer.
Her unconscious thoughts were pretty intense, despite being married to husband Luke (Neil Morrissey).
The couple's relationship has been under strain following their son's death and his previous affair with a woman called Wendy.
Rosalie's dreams certainly got viewers talking, with one writing on Twitter: "Even though nothing really happened, apart from a bunch of sex dreams, Penance was weirdly compelling."
Another tweeted: "Oooft #Penance is a smouldering and intense watch."
A third added: "Watching with my 23yr old & everytime she has a dream we both grab our phones and ignore."
The sexual tension spilled over from Julie's dreams into real life, when - during a stay with Jed at a the family cottage - she called out his name in her sleep.
Waking up, Julie found Jed (Nico Mirallegro) in her room after he heard her shouting out his name, but embarrassed, she chucked him out of the bedroom.
It didn't deter Jed from revealing he "thought about her too", before later sharing a steamy kiss.
Her actions lead Julie to head to church at the end of the episode and pray to God to give her strength to resist her attraction to Jed and focus on her marriage.
Penance continues tonight at 9pm on Channel 5.
