Who stars in The Nest?

Martin Compston (Dan)

Line of Duty actor Martin, 35 stars as Dan, husband to Emily.

He is a self-made man who, apparently, owns half of Glasgow and drives around in a Bentley.

A local hero, he even forked out for a massive sports stadium for underprivileged kids.

The couple appear to have it all - besides a family of their own.

When they hire Kaya (Mirren Mack) to be their surrogate, Dan has growing suspicions about the troubled teen.

Compton tells he found it "liberating" not having to curb his Scottish accent after growing up in Greenock in the Scottish Lowlands.

Adding, "To be on set and not be worried about someone saying, 'Could you just clip the 'T' on that? or 'can you change that' ...That's very freeing as an actor because you can just get on with it."

Sophie Rundle (Emily)

British actress, Sophie is best known for her roles on Peaky Blinders, Gentleman Jack and Bodyguard.

She plays Dan's beautiful wife Emily.

Emily has struggled to conceive, suffered numerous miscarriages and will literally do anything to have a family of her own.

During an interview with Sophie explains, "It's such a brilliant script...You've got three people who all need each other."

She adds, "It asks what money can buy.. and how easily you can exploit people when you want something so badly."

Mirren Mack (Kaya)

Taking on the role of 18 year-old Kaya in The Nest is newcomer Mirren Mack.

She is a Scottish actress who has previously appeared in 's hit series, Sex Education, playing asexual school actress, Florence.

The young actress has also performed in numerous theatre productions at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

In the series, she offers to become a surrogate for the couple after a chance meeting with Emily but are things as they appear or is there something shady about her?

James Harkness (James)

James, 31, grew up in Glasgow's Gorgals.

On his 18th birthday that took place in an elevator on the south side of Glasgow that made him all the more determined to focus on his acting career.

His previous acting credentials include, The Victim and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

In this series, he plays the role of Kaya's social worker who has concerns about her welfare.

David Haymen (Souter)

The 72 year-old actor was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland.

He has a long list of acting credits, but is probably best known for his roles in Sid And Nancy and The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas.

David plays Souter in The Nest, a shadowy associate of Dan.

He wants Dan's full attention in their business but notices Dan is distracted by his growing concerns about Kaya.

Other cast members joining the show are Fiona Bell, who plays Dan's sister Hilary, and Paul Brannigan as Kaya's neighbour Doddy.

Shirley Anderson (Stan and Ollie), Katie Leung (Strangers), Bailey Patrick (London Kills), Katie Dickie (Game of Thrones) and Samuel Small (So Awkward) are also set to join the cast as the series unfolds.

When is The Nest on TV?

The Nest continues tonight (Sunday, April 12, 2020) at 9pm on BBC One.

This five-part series will air every consecutive Sunday.

Each episode lasts for 58 minutes and you can catch the first episode on after they have aired.
