Revealing his health news to fans, the magician shared a video and explained: "Because of my existing health issues, and the fact I’m on immunosuppressive therapy, I’m at high risk."

Immunosuppressive therapy is a treatment that lowers the activity of the body’s immune system and reduces the ability to fight infections and other diseases.

He continued: "Secondly, although I haven’t had a fever, my symptoms have been quite severe and finally, so that I was able to inform those who I’ve been in contact with so they can make their own relevant precautions.

"I’ve had my results back now and unfortunately, I have tested positive for Covid-19. This illness can effect anyone, it doesn’t discriminate and it can present itself in many different ways."

Alongside the video, he made it clear he was over the worst of it, telling his followers: "Hi guys, hope you’re all keeping safe and well. It’s been a bit of a rough couple of weeks so wanted to give you an update.

"As you know I’ve had some health issues over last few years and underlying conditions make this virus particularly dangerous and very real.

"I’m incredibly relieved to be over the worst of it but wanted to let you all know what’s been happening. Please take this virus seriously and remember that by staying home, you are protecting so many others."

Dynamo revealed in 2017 that he suffers from Crohn's disease, an inflammatory bowel condition which requires him to take daily medication.

He was diagnosed when he was a teenager and had to have half his stomach removed aged 17.

What is Crohn's disease?

It is a condition that causes inflammation of the digestive system. The inflammation is the body’s reaction to injury or irritation, and can cause redness, swelling and pain.

It is often described as a chronic condition and although sufferers will have periods of good health, there are flare-ups where symptoms are more active.

It can be caused by the genes a person has inherited, an abnormal reaction of the immune system and is probably triggered by something in the environment.

A few celebrities have gone public with their diagnosis, including magician Dynamo, real name Stephen Frayne, who shocked fans with his dramatic weight gain due to the illness.

Common symptoms include:

  • diarrhoea
  • abdominal pain and cramping (usually worse after eating)
  • extreme tiredness
  • unintended weight loss or gain
  • blood in poo
  • mouth ulcers
  • inflammation
  • feeling ill
  • joint pain

The star’s health deteriorated in the summer of 2017 after he was hospitalised with the “very bad combination” of food poisoning and Crohn’s.

He developed arthritis - affecting all the joints in his body including his toes, knees, neck, ankle and hands - as a result and was in too much pain to even shuffle cards, putting his livelihood on the line.

Fans were shocked to see pictures of Dynamo with a swollen face and larger frame  in 2018 after his medication made him put on two stone.

The UK coronavirus death toll shot up by 569 today to 2,961 people - including 44 with no underlying health conditions.

Positive cases for the deadly disease in the UK have also risen to 33,718 - up 4,244 from yesterday.
