Kate Garraway reveals she’s ‘excruciatingly worried’ about ‘very ill’ husband Derek in intensive care with coronavirus

KATE Garraway has credited the bravery of NHS staff for keeping her husband Derek Draper alive as he continues to suffer from coronavirus in hospital.

The star revealed she has been "excruciatingly worried" about Derek who is still "very ill" in intensive care with the deadly Covid-19.

She gave an emotional update to her Good Morning Britain co-star Ben Shephard to read out today.

Ben told viewers: "I’m afraid it remains an excruciatingly worrying time.

"The NHS team who have been working on him have all been extraordinary and I know it’s only their professionalism, dedication and bravery that has kept Derek with us so far. Thank you alone doesn't seem enough."

Last night Kate broke her social media silence to thank the NHS.

Sharing a video of the special moment outside her home, Kate said: "The neighbours added some extra sparkle to tonight’s #clapforcarers . Thank you thank you - you are all amazing."

Fans rushed to send their support to the TV personality, writing: "Hope your husband is getting better kate."

Someone added: "Hope your husband is ok."

Another said: "Hope your husband is on the mend."

Kate's husband Derek was taken to hospital last week, where he tested positive for coronavirus.

The GMB host is “sick with worry” about former Labour adviser Derek, 52.

A source revealed at the time: “This is a desperate situation for Kate who is sick with worry about Derek’s health.

“He is intensive care battling coronavirus and for obvious reasons she is beside herself.

“Kate has symptoms herself too but they are mild so she is self-isolating at home with the kids.

Kate has been forced off ITV show GMB because she has symptoms too and is now self-isolating with her children.

Earlier this week she shared a heartfelt message of support for Prime Minister Boris Johnson when he was taken into intensive care.

The television host, 52, paid tribute to the Prime Minister - just hours after he was admitted into ICU on Monday.

Last night he left intensive care and is back in the ward at St Thomas’ Hospital.
