Sue Perkins slams ex Bake Off co-star Paul Hollywood and says she and Mel Giedroyc were ‘devastated’ by his behaviour

FORMER Great British Bake Off host Sue Perkins has accused the show’s judge Paul Hollywood of leaving her “incredibly hurt and sad”.

Sue, 50, presented the hit show with comedy partner Mel Giedroyc from 2010 until 2016, when it moved from BBC1 to Channel 4.

But she has now admitted that working on it was “very stressful”.

She said: “When we were there, Paul was incredibly fun — and then stuff happened that made us incredibly sad and incredibly hurt.

“But he was always like family for years and years, and it’s painful when those things end, especially in the way they did end.

“I’m devastated about what happened, lots of it. I just feel that you become uncool and start pointing the finger and you become as bad as everybody else.”

Asked on singer Jessie Ware’s Table Manners podcast about rumours of tears behind the scenes, Sue said: “It’s stressful. It’s a very stressful show.”

Mel, 51, added that she has not watched the show since leaving, but was proud of the work they had done.

She said: “I like to think that Perkins and I created the tone for it. We wanted to be kind, not sensationalist, we wanted it to be a comforting watch.

"Hopefully we established that and other people do what they want with it. I haven’t seen it.”

Sandi has now left, too, and will be replaced by comic Matt Lucas.

Sue added: “I think Matt will do an amazing job.”
