And it's good news for fans of Piers as he has confirmed the change will be for the "foreseeable future".

The 55-year-old star normally only hosts the programme Monday-Wednesday, with Ben Shephard taking over on Thursday and Friday.

He revealed the news last night on Twitter.

Responding to a fan who had praised GMB's updates on the health crisis, Piers wrote: "Thanks Tris, I'll actually be doing 4 days a week (Mon-Thurs) on @GMB for the foreseeable future, starting tomorrow."

Later, he added: "UPDATE: On tomorrow's @GMB we'll have man of the moment @captaintommoore, @KathJenkins singing We'll Meet Again live... and @MattHancock

"Oh, and me. I'm now doing Thursdays too - which I'm sure the Health Secretary will be especially pleased to learn."

The day will see ITV dedicate its live shows to raising money for NHS charities on NHS Day.
