Little Britain returning to TV for first time in 12 years for charity special with David Walliams and Matt Lucas

LITTLE Britain is making a comeback – 12 years after the hit TV series ended.

David Walliams and Matt Lucas are set to perform a new sketch as part of BBC One’s extravaganza The Big Night In later this month.

The three-hour live show will feature some of the nation’s favourite entertainers as it celebrates “the acts of kindness, humour and the spirit of hope and resilience that is keeping the nation going during the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic”.

It will be the first time Comic Relief and Children In Need have joined forces for the special occasion.

The BBC have kept quiet about what to expect from the comedy legends and only said of the Little Britain reunion: “Details of the sketch will remain under wraps until the live show.”

Other legendary faces taking part in the April 23 bonanza include Peter Kay, who is making his TV comeback, and Catherine Tate.

Money raised during the show will be shared between the two charities with the profit going to provide emergency support for vulnerable people during the lockdown.

Last week Chancellor Rishi Sunak said the Treasury would match any contributions the public make.

Lucas and Walliams haven’t reprised their roles on the telly for almost 12 years after the series ended – although they reunited last October for a Radio 4 special.

Give now to The Sun's NHS appeal

BRITAIN’s four million NHS staff are on the frontline in the battle against coronavirus.

But while they are helping save lives, who is there to help them?

The Sun has launched an appeal to raise £1MILLION for NHS workers.

The Who Cares Wins Appeal aims to get vital support to staff in their hour of need.

We have teamed up with NHS Charities Together in their urgent Covid-19 Appeal to ensure the money gets to exactly who needs it.

The Sun is donating £50,000 and we would like YOU to help us raise a million pounds, to help THEM.

Following the show, David said: ‘There will definitely be some more Little Britain coming. I can’t say when exactly but at the right time and place.

“It was fun coming back for radio because that’s where we started. Plus no one expected us to come back on the radio.

“You would have expected Comic Relief or a big live tour. The reaction was great, which was encouraging.”

Matt as Little Britain character Dafydd, better known as ‘the only gay in the village’

The comedy duo fell out for many years and stopped working with each other in 2011, amid reports the friendship had become strained.

Matt wrote in his autobiography about how tensions rose between the pair in 2005 during their epic Little Britain Live tour, leading to a spectacular fight backstage one night.

Matt dropped hints earlier this year about a possible reunion and explained: “It might happen. We had a conversation with them a while ago so the seed was planted in our heads.

“We’d love to bring it back in some way at some point.

“We’re both quite busy boys but we’re speaking often (to each other) and one idea was to maybe do a stage show of it again…”
