Emmerdale fans convinced Vanessa will DIE as Michelle Hardwick announces pregnancy
EMMERDALE fans are terrified Vanessa Woodfield will die of bowel cancer after actress Michelle Hardwick revealed her real life pregnancy.
The actress announced last night the happy news that she is expecting a baby with producer wife Kate Brooks.
And while fans are overjoyed for the couple, some are terrified that it means Michelle's character Vanessa could be making a permanent exit from screens.
On-screen Vanessa has been battling bowel cancer and is in the early stages of treatment having undergone initial surgery.
Last week Michelle told how she had always known what the ending for Vanessa's bowel cancer storyline would be.
She said: "I won't say which way it goes, but I was told straight away.
"As soon as [Emmerdale's executive producer] Jane Hudson brought me up, she told me the storyline and the outcome.
"I didn't even have time to think about it one way or another. As soon as I was told the story, I was told the outcome.
"It wasn't a case of 'here's the story but we don't know yet'. So I've always known what happens in the storyline but my lips are sealed..."
The ominous quotes and the news Michelle will be at least temporarily leaving the show owing to her pregnancy mean fans are terrified that it will be a final exit for Vanessa.
One wrote: "@emmerdale if you kill Vanessa off I will be furious mind. Lgbt characters always get killed off and it's not fair."
A second said: "So how does this news today leave vanity and the fact they could kill Vanessa off, so many questions now! #emmerdale"
Another added: "They’re going to kill Vanessa off aren’t they? I can feel it. #Emmerdale"
