Who's in the cast of Normal People?
Sally Rooney’s best-selling novel Normal People, which sold over 500,000 copies in the UK, was a hit when it was first published in 2018.
The plot of Normal People, which is set in the Republic of Ireland, centres around the characters of Connell Waldron and Marianne Sheridan.
Rooney has co-written the programme’s episodes, and is also an executive producer.
Paul Mescal as Connell Waldron
Paul is a 24-year-old Irish actor.
He has a background in theatre, playing a young Jay Gatsby in The Great Gatsby at The Gate Theatre in Dublin.
This is Paul's first TV role.
Daisy Edgar-Jones as Marianne Sheridan
Daisy is a 21-year-old English actress.
The star is no stranger to TV.
Daisy will be familiar face for many Cold Feet viewers, as she played Olivia Marsden in the show from 2016-2018.
Her other credits have included Silent Witness, Gentleman Jack, Outnumbered, and the recent BBC adaptation of War Of The Worlds, where she appeared as Emily.
Sarah Greene as Lorraine
Sarah is probably the most known of the cast.
In this series the actress plays Connell's plain-speaking mother Lorraine.
Sarah was previously known for starring in Dublin Murders.
Frank Blake as Alan
Marianne's cruel brother, Alan, is portrayed by Frank Blake.
The actor has previously appeared in Game Of Thrones.
Other cast members include:
- Aislin McGuckin - whose credits include Outlander, The Miniaturist and David Copperfield - plays Marianne's long-suffering mum Denise.
- The role of Rachel, who has a crush on Connell at school and dislikes Marianne for the attention he pays her, is taken on by Leah McNamara who has appeared in Dublin Murders.
- Marianne's first university boyfriend Gareth is portrayed by former Skins star Sebastian de Souza.
- Aoife Hinds plays Connell's university girlfriend Helen, who has also appeared in Derry Girls.
