Dragon’s Den’s Duncan Bannatyne heaps praise on the NHS as he proudly announces granddaughter’s birth
DUNCAN Bannatyne took to social media earlier today to thank the NHS as he announced the birth of his newest grandchild.
Duncan, 71, shared the happy news on Twitter on Sunday morning amid the global coronavirus pandemic.
"Thank you NHS & Everyone at Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. My daughter arrived at your doors late yesterday afternoon and very soon after had a beautiful baby daughter," he wrote.
"Thank you for working and being wonderful," the former Dragon's Den star added.
Duncan is already a father-of-six and now has three grandchildren.
The businessman shares four daughters, Hollie, Abigail, Jennifer and Eve, with his first wife Gail and another two children, Emily and Thomas, with second wife Joanna.
He married third wife Nigora Whitehorn, who is 31 years his junior, in Portugal back in 2017.
Duncan was inundated with comments from his followers, who were keen to congratulate him.
"Congrats, all the best for your daughter & the wee one, and welcome to this crazy, weird, unbelievable and downright fabulous world, baby!" one person wrote.
A second person added: "Congratulations! It's great to see that little baby's granda has already stuck up for her safeguarding, rights and future," while a third said: "Wonderful news, congrats to you and your fam!!! Love a good news story at this time!! (sic)."
The happy news comes after Duncan took a swipe at celebs like Richard Branson and Victoria Beckham for seeking taxpayer cash to pay their staff and save their companies.
Duncan - who has a net worth of £300million - took to Twitter as he blasted Sir Richard during a row with another user.
He wrote: "I have gone to the Bank NOT the UK tax payer. The bank. A viable business will get money from a Bank."
