The Walking Dead’s Negan actor teases Beta’s fate as he ‘comes to wipe everyone out’ in ‘massive’ season 10 finale

THE Walking Dead’s makeshift finale left fans on a major cliff-hanger.

In the wake of Alpha’s (Samantha Morton) death, Beta (Ryan Hurst) assumed control of The Whisperers and led their zombie horde to attack the members of the allied communities who’d been displaced by the attack on Hilltop.

The season 10 finale, which has been suspended indefinitely amid the coronavirus pandemic, was set to track the siege of the abandoned hospital where the group had taken shelter.

Now Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Negan on the AMC zombie drama, has lifted the lid on what fans can expect when the show returns for the one-off episode.

“We had fun filming it, I’ll tell you that, but I do not know when they’re going to finish it,” he told Entertainment Weekly, when asked about a potential release date.

Offering his best guess, he added: “I reckon four or five months from now we’ll get to see it, which will be cool.

“It will be cool having a one-off, almost a Walking Dead movie in the middle of the season, I guess. So we’re excited about that aspect of it.”

As for specific plot points, Negan promised plenty of action and hinted that the aftermath of the war would continue to be felt in season 11.

He continued: “I think obviously things are going to come to some sort of a head with the Beta and his character.

“There has to be some sort of a resolution. Whether that carries over to next season, I’ll leave that open, because who knows.

“But we know he’s coming to wipe everybody out with his zombie horde so hopefully we’ll see that come to a head at some point. There has to be some sort of battle. Greg Nicotero directed it, so it’s going to be a big massive episode for sure.”

Negan found redemption in recent episodes after betraying Alpha and decapitating her at Carol’s (Melissa McBride) request.

He subsequently sided with Daryl (Norman Reedus) by taking out a gang of Whisperers, although to say he received a lacklustre thank you for the gesture would be an understatement.

Morgan concluded by admitting he had no idea when filming for season 11 would kick off given the current climate.

“Who knows when we go back to work, I certainly don’t know when production is going to start again on The Walking Dead,” he said.

“When we’re going to see season 11 of The Walking Dead is such a f***ing mystery right now. It’s just a big question mark.”
