Sir Keir's interview was awkwardly cut short

However, the video link that he was appearing on abruptly froze partway through the chat, forcing the interview to end.

Susanna and Ben looked confused as the cameras cut back to them in the studio, with Ben remarking: "It looks like we may have just lost the link to Sir Keir, have we managed to put a bit more money in the meter?

"Someone's pulled the plug."

There was then an awkward silence before Susanna exclaimed: "That was weird, wasn't it... it just froze there."

Ben replied: "You know when your wifi drops out, it's that eternal frustration."

His co-host argued back: "But it normally glitches before it freezes?"

The pair then asked Dr Hilary Jones for his thoughts on Keir's comments as they tried to get back in contact with the MP to no avail.

Ben filled in for Piers Morgan for the second day in a row today as Piers battles an illness from home.

The 55-year-old star revealed at the weekend that he was having a COVID-19 test on the advice of his doctor after suffering mild symptoms.

Yesterday evening, his fans were relieved when the test came back negative - but he still did not return to our screens today.

Ben joked this morning that he couldn't wait for Piers to no longer need him to step in, joking that he is adding "more and more make-up to try and hide the bags" from his early starts.
