Adele won’t badmouth ex-husband Simon Konecki on new album to protect son Angelo
HER heartbreak songs have sold millions of copies but Adele’s next record will not be the break-up album we probably expected.
I’ve learned she won’t be bad-mouthing ex-husband Simon Konecki when the record lands this year.
She WILL open up about her failed marriage but has vowed not to throw Simon under the bus, in part to protect their son Angelo.
A US music insider said: “Adele does not want Simon to suffer or be humiliated on this album.
“She enjoyed a great relationship with him and they are both immensely proud of their son. For her to vent or express anything that could be deemed as negative would cause an unnecessary rift and they have tried to stay amicable in the split.
“She does not want Angelo learning about any of their issues through her songs, especially as he is getting older and kids are more aware of what she does for a living.
“The other albums were at a different time in her life.
“Now she has to consider the importance of her future stability.
“From what we have heard, the music will still have a wide range of emotions and subjects, reflecting on her journey and experiences as a mother.”
Adele, who celebrated her 32nd birthday this week by sharing a lovely new photograph has not released an album since 25 in 2015.
But in February, she announced at a pal’s wedding that her fourth studio record would be out this September.
That release date has clearly been thrown into doubt by the pandemic, which has caused some artists to delay releasing their own albums.
Adele has been working with OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder, who co-wrote her songs Remedy and Rumour Has It.
Ryan told me back in March to expect big things.
He teased: “I’ll just say that she sounds better than ever.”
It already seems sure to be the album of the year.

JESY NELSON looks like a cover girl in this stunning snap she posted on Instagram – just like her mum was back in the day.
Little Mix have given themselves Eighties home makeovers for the video for Break Up Song and it includes Jesy reading a copy of Jackie magazine, with mum Janice on the front.
Gary and Chris' '90s classic
GARY BARLOW has been running his Crooner Sessions duets on YouTube during lockdown – with big names including Niall Horan and Sir Cliff Richard.
But today I can reveal he’s hauled in Coldplay’s Chris Martin, as the pair join forces on what I’m told is a “Nineties classic”.
A source tells me: “What started out as a bit of fun has picked up speed and now he’s got everyone who is anyone agreeing to take part.”
Gary said: “These sessions have shown me what brilliant friends I have.”

KELLY ROWLAND will make things interesting for hubby Tim Weatherspoon by dressing up. The singer said: “I’m like, ‘Well, if I have to play dress-up and do role-play . . . then it needs to happen’. We spice things up a bit.”

LADY GAGA has unveiled an interesting range of merchandise following the news her album Chromatica will now be out on May 29. She updated her online store to include a £16 pink thong and £20 green briefs, both featuring the album’s title. I’m not sure I could pull either look off.
HOME Alone actor Macaulay Culkin will be all grown up in the forthcoming series of American Horror Story. Its creator Ryan Murphy said: “I told him he has crazy, erotic sex with Kathy Bates and does other things. And he paused and he goes, ‘This sounds like the role I was born to play’.”
MADONNA believes that she caught coronavirus while touring in March. The superstar revealed: “When you test positive for antibodies it means you had the virus, which I clearly did as I was sick at the end of my tour in Paris over seven weeks ago . . . We all thought we had a very bad flu.”
DAVID BOWIE and Iman’s teenage daughter Lexi Jones has moved to Los Angeles and is making a living by selling artwork and customised clothes for up to £200 online. But insiders say she didn’t make the move from New York to Hollywood to get famous and is instead enjoying a low-key life.
