Channel 4 acquired the rights as part of a deal with Walt Disney and all seven seasons of the award-winning supernatural drama will be available on All 4 in its entirety for the first time ever.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer follows Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) try her level-best to live a normal teenage life while attending Sunnydale High School.

Guided by her Watcher, Giles (Anthony Head) and her friends Willow (Alyson Hannigan) and Xander (Nicholas Brendon) help her along the way, Buffy welcomes her responsibilities and calling to be a hunter of vampires and demons, which makes her The Slayer.

Created by Joss Whedon (The Avengers / Firefly), Buffy has gone on to become a global cult-hit, loved across the world and still popular among fans 17 years after it came to an end.

The Guardian wrote of Buffy: “Twenty years on, the brilliance of Joss Whedon’s funny, tragic seven-season synthesis of most film and TV genres, literary conceits and pop cultural tropes remains undimmed”.

In March, Disney Plus hinted it is about to release Buffy The Vampire Slayer in the battle for streaming supremacy between Netflix and the new service.

One subscriber reported that the Mickey Mouse giant has been sounding out subscribers over email by asking them what they'd prefer to watch.

A Disney Plus subscriber posted a picture of their survey question on Twitter asking them to rate their interest on a five-point scale from 'would watch' to 'wouldn't watch'.
They wrote: "So Disney + is contemplating putting FIREFLY and BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER on its channel? Strange but welcome!"

Fans were very excited about the prospect of Buffy returning, with one raving: "Buffy and Firefly both in the same sentence - I'm all over this."
