Susanna Reid denies smashing Piers Morgan’s £150k Aston Martin insisting she has the ‘ultimate’ excuse
GOOD Morning Britain star Susanna Reid had denied smashing Piers Morgan's £150,000 Aston Martin in a prang at the show's car park.
The 49-year-old presenter hit back after being accused by her 55-year-old co-host of shattering the rear light on the vehicle with clumsy parking.
Writing in her column, she put forward a fiery defence after Piers announced that she was the "prime suspect".
Susanna wrote: "He claims it happened when it was outside our studio and, as I park my car close by, the finger of suspicion points heavily at me.
"I plead not guilty, your honour. Although we have to do a tight three-point turn when leaving work, I pride myself on my driving skills.
"I’m not intimidated by a tight spot of parallel parking, passed my driving test first time and was always the designated driver in my group of friends."
She added: "My bumpers are flawless, with no telltale scratches or remnants of embedded plastic.
"And I have the ultimate defence. I can’t have gone near his pride and joy because, even when it comes to cars, I am religiously adhering to the two-metre social distancing rule."
The damage was done on Wednesday, with Dr Hilary Jones bringing up the subject live on air when he asked Piers: "Have you found the vandal that vandalised your rear light yet?"
Piers replied: "No. the rear light got smashed, and I have no idea how it happened other than I park my car next to somebody else's car here.
"It's only one other person's car, and it didn't happen at home because I park it next to the pavement."
Susanna shifted in her seat and glanced guiltily to the side, before saying: "I'm very good at three point turns, thank you very much indeed."
The hit-and-run came after Piers revealed he felt like Roald Dahl character Charlie Bucket entering Willy Wonka's chocolate factory for the first time when he got his car valeted at the weekend.
