GMB’s Susanna Reid says she rows with Piers Morgan off air and fights aren’t ‘just for the cameras’
SUSANNA Reid's rows with Piers Morgan put her "through the wringer" and continue even when the cameras have been switched off.
The Good Morning Britain host, 49, describes her co-host as her "work husband" and much like a real relationship it can get very heated.
Susanna admitted when she first met Piers 14 years ago she felt "glad it was only a brief encounter".
But then nine years later found herself working alongside him as they began hosting the popular ITV news breakfast program.
In a column for the Daily Mail said even though they argue a lot it's a "dynamite dynamic".
She wrote: "We’re one of those couples who fight, and it’s not just for the cameras. We often have rows in the editorial meeting that we continue on air.
"Now we host a breakfast show together, and viewers say it’s like watching ‘mum and dad argue in front of the kids’.
"Truth be told, by the time I get home, I feel like I’ve been through the wringer."
The mum-of-three then asked Piers why he thought they could work together for so long, even though they argue all the time.
She wrote: "I asked my ‘TV husband’ what he thinks is the secret of a long-lasting relationship.
"It is this: ‘In an argument, it is always important that someone knows when to stop'."
Describing Piers, 55, as a "row-ing machine", Susanna said one good thing to come from the coronavirus pandemic is that she doesn't have to be near him.
The journalist wrote: "The ban on any physical contact means... we won’t have to hug each other."
Susanna got mad recently, finding out Piers could count on one hand the number of times he's had an argument with his wife of 10 years, Celia Walden.
She wrote: "His reply left me speechless. ‘I spend all day shouting at people, so I get home and can’t be bothered,’ he said.
"Piers and I argue more times than I can count on both hands in the course of an average week."
The presenter, 55, has caused controversy with his fiery interviewing style, which has managed to anger some members of Parliament enough that they are now boycotting the ITV news show.
But despite that and the hundreds of complaints against him, GMB has recorded its highest ratings ever.
Piers has now bragged about the huge ratings Good Morning Britain received.

Sharing a photo of him alongside Susanna, he captioned the social media post: "BREAKING: Good Morning Britain had its highest ever ratings yesterday: 27% audience share, peaking at 32%.
"The longer the Govt boycotts us, the more people are tuning in. We’ll keep challenging them in their cowardly absence. Thank you for watching!"
