Smitten Lewis Capaldi pens song about new girlfriend Catherine Halliday for new album
IT was writing about his heartache that shot him to super-stardom with debut album Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent.
But Lewis Capaldi will be singing about love on the follow-up record after falling head over heels for stunning student Catherine Halliday.
And the Scottish star has already penned a song in tribute to her, according to insiders.
A source said: “Lewis’s tracks are mostly about love again but this time finding it, not losing it. He’s smitten with Catherine and although it’s early days, she has a nod on one of the tracks he has written. Lewis mentions her hair and it’s really quite special. She’s made him realise how to be happy again.”
“Lewis jokes a lot but as a songwriter he’s a huge talent. The songs are catchy and upbeat. It’s the same brilliant vocals and emotional lyrics but this time it’s got a lighter feel to it. Catherine was obviously made up there is a nod to her. She has something very special with Lewis.”
Lewis previously dated Love Islander Paige Turley, but their romance ended badly years before he found fame.”
He said of the moment she dumped him: “It was going smooth, as smooth as you can imagine, as smooth as a ski slope. And one day, she said, ‘Lewis, can I have a quick word?’. And I said, ‘Of course, my darling’.
“And she said to me, ‘Lewis, slight issue with me and you as a couple. I find you revolting in every way possible, and you are really a disgusting human being. And I would like to leave you, effective immediately’.”
Lewis confirmed last month he was dating Catherine, from Aberdeen, after The Sun revealed they were together in February. When asked by a fan during a Zoom Q&A whether he preferred being single or in a relationship, Lewis said: “I’m in a relationship so if I said the other one, my girlfriend would kill me.”
“I’ve never told anybody I’m in a relationship, so there you go. She’s got red hair, she’s got quite a posh voice. And that’s that, that’s all you’re getting.”
Until the new album comes out eh, Lewis? I can’t wait to hear it.

Molly: Dog death not on us
AFTER the sudden death of her £2,000 designer puppy, Love Island’s Molly-Mae Hague has issued a tearful statement denying she was responsible.
The reality star, who was given the pet by her Islander boyfriend Tommy Fury, said she was devastated by claims she was at fault for the Pomeranian’s death after just five days in her care.
The pup was bought from what Molly says was a reputable breeder in Russia. She added: “People that are saying we bought him for Instagram likes, please stop saying that.
“We’re not asking for any kind of sympathy. What’s happened is awful. I’m asking you to understand that the dog travelling from Russia is not the reason he died.”
The dog, called Mr Chai, died at the vets following a seizure. Molly said: “From two days in, we started to pick up on a few things so we took him to the vet. I could tell something wasn’t right. The vet rang up and said Chai had a seizure and he died.”
“Tommy literally threw up everywhere. I was like, ‘It’s a prank’, as we get prank called all the time and she was like, ‘No, your dog has died’.”
Molly, who paid for a fast-track autopsy, said: “Chai’s skull wasn’t fully developed. Part of his brain was exposed. While we completely understand everyone’s opinions about being shipped over from Russia, what you need to understand is that is not what made him die.”
If there is ever a tale to make you adopt, not shop, this is it.

ED Sheeran went back to work after telling fans he was taking time out from music.
He announced a break in December, after spending more than two years on the road as part of his record-breaking Divide world tour. But it seems he couldn’t help himself when rising music star Jeremy Loops asked him for help.
The pair sat down for a secret studio session shortly before he took a step back from the limelight – and Ed helped write some new tunes for the South African singer. In an exclusive chat, Jeremy said: “I arrived early in the morning and we worked all day on a few different songs.
“He’s known to be a very fast writer. He’s very fluid and moves quickly. He can work with whoever he wants, so there’s something beautiful about the fact that he wanted to work with me. I couldn’t have called him and been like, ‘Yeah, I want to work together, like, get ready’.”
