Love Island’s Marcel Somerville says he ‘nearly died’ as he talks from his hospital bed after passing out
LOVE Island's Marcel Somerville revealed he nearly died as he recovers in hospital after passing out at the weekend.
The 34-year-old praised the NHS as he gave fans a video update on Instagram from his hospital bed.
He filmed a series of tubes inserted into his arm before flipping the camera to show his face and expressing his gratitude for being alive.
He said: "This is just a message to everyone that has been sending all their prayers and blessings.
"They don’t go missed, I really appreciate them, I really need them right now.
"It’s been a very, very hard few days for me. Saturday was literally the worst day of my life and I nearly died but, yeah, just keep sending them my way because I really need them. Thank you so much. Big love from Marce."
Marcel, who was a member of Blazin' Squad, had reportedly been sick before falling unconscious and being taken to hospital.
A source told OK! Magazine: "Marcel has been feeling unwell for a few days and didn’t have any energy.
"One day he vomited violently and then passed out.
"He’s been admitted to hospital and has a fever and is still feeling weak."
Marcel and his family are now awaiting test results to see if he has contracted Covid-19 or not.
The source added: "He’s been in hospital for two days and they’re still awaiting test results to rule out coronavirus."
The Sun Online contacted a representative for Marcus for comment.
Marcel posted on social media two days before being taken ill, sharing his support for the Black Lives Matter movement.
