RETURN TRIP

Ryan, Adam and Scott Thomas handed second series of their ITV travel series

GIVEN the Thomas brothers were told they were going on the “trip of a lifetime” to investigate their family tree, they probably didn’t expect a second series.

But ITV bosses were so impressed with all their efforts in the travel adventure Absolutely India: Mancs In Mumbai, that they are handing them another one.

The three brothers — former Emmerdale star Adam, ex-Corrie actor Ryan and Love Island’s Scott — are now about to pack their suitcases again.

This time they are heading off to South America and the Caribbean.

A telly source said: “ITV were delighted with the success of the first series so are now planning another once lockdown is eased.

“The idea is to send the lads around South America, taking in the Caribbean, after it was revealed in the first part that they have family ties there.

“ITV think the lads could be the new Judith Chalmers because audiences have fallen in love with their cheeky banter, natural style and infectious personalities.

“If the second series goes as well as the first, they could be locked into a multi-series deal.”

The first six-part series followed the excitable trio to India where they experienced the food and culture, including the infamous fire haircut.

They were joined by their father Dougie, a music promoter and lead singer of Seventies band Dougie James And The Soul Train.

The family explored their Indian roots in the hope of seeking out long-lost relatives.

Manchester or the Caribbean? I know which one I’d be choosing.

After Life faces end

IF there’s one man who knows how to leave viewers wanting more, it is Ricky Gervais.

The comic behind one of the greatest sitcoms of all-time – The Office – says he is going to treat his Netflix megahit After Life the same way and stop after series three.

He said: “I’ve already made my mind up there just won’t be a fourth. You never say never but you put those things out there to make you remember because it’s tempting, it’s very tempting.

“Studios are tempting, the audience are tempting.

“But there is a lovely old saying that to lead the orchestra you have got to turn your back on the audience, and I think that’s true.

"The audience think they want another one but they don’t know, they’re not sure, so you’ve got to be careful.”

We told how Ricky got £5million for series three of the dark comedy, including a Christmas special, if he can find the time.

I loved series two but hope Ricky has a storyline in mind for the third outing and he’s not just seeing those very large pound signs.

Race to find a place

CHANNEL 4’s hit property series A Place In The Sun has seen the number of people wanting to take part double during the lockdown.

The daytime show, where potential buyers look for a new home abroad, hopes to resume filming next month.

Despite not being able to fly to countries such as Spain and France, punters have still been desperate to put their name in the frame to be picked to do the viewings.

A show source said: “Since lockdown began, the appetite for buying a place abroad has certainly not waned.

“The number of applications we are receiving daily has doubled. We’ve had several hundred new people apply.”

Presenter Jasmine Harman added: “Lockdown has been particularly challenging for me, as I’m never usually in one

Heads up for Alan

JODIE COMER was high on BBC1’s list of sought-after names to perform in the Talking Heads.

But creator Alan Bennett didn’t have a clue who she was.

The veteran stage and screen actor, author and playwright was not aware of the award-winning Killing Eve star.

And he still hasn’t seen her monologue because old- school Alan has been stuck at home due to Covid-19 and hates watching previews on a computer screen.

Imogen has had her fill
