GOOD Morning Britain star Susanna Reid says she will no longer use Twitter unless there's a big news story - after being forced off by vile trolls.
She said: "I’m finally at breaking point, and I’m taking a step back from all the nastiness."
Writing in her column she explained: "I happened to check my phone when I was making lunch for the kids, and the tirade of sexist insults made my stomach lurch. I thought: ‘Why do I do this to myself?’"
Calling on social media firms to do more to stamp out the worst of the abuse, she detailed the sorts of insults she regularly receives.
Susanna wrote: "I am informed I am too fat, too thin, too old and too stupid.
"Spoilt, narcissistic and attention-seeking are common insults, although honestly no one on TV is going to be offended by the accusation that they seek attention. We’re hardly shrinking violets.
"The C-word — which often pops up — is never pleasant to read, but I’ve learned to ignore it."
She said she would only ever now open Twitter, which she admitted she was "addicted" to, if she need to get information on a news story.
This week Susanna's co-host Piers Morgan shared his disgust at being "bombarded with racist abuse" on Twitter while he was presenting the show.
The 55-year-old told viewers: "The level of racism spewing around social media right now is terrifying.
