Happy Mondays star Shaun Ryder turned down Strictly because its judges are ‘c***s’
Also rules out being locked up with troubled celebs in CBB
HAPPY Mondays star Shaun Ryder has revealed he turned down a spot on Strictly Come Dancing because of its "c***" judges.
The outrageous Britpop icon, 53, claimed he didn't want to be squeezed into spandex and made to "dance like a t**t" for the amusement of Craig Revel Horwood, Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Darcey Bussell.
He told The Sun Online at last night's Ivor Novello Awards: "I got asked to do Strictly. The problem with Strictly is it doesn’t really do anything for you, does it?
"You go on and you dance like a t**t, right, and then you stand there while some c*** tells you how bad you are and what a w**ker you are."
Shaun appeared on I'm a Celebrity in 2010, where he finished second to Stacey Solomon.
But Shaun, who has battled addictions to heroin and crack cocaine, ruled out swapping for the jungle for the Celebrity Big Brother - which bandmate Bez won in 2006 - as he doesn't want to be locked away with troubled stars.
He said: "If you go on Celebrity Big Brother then it’s a load of people with f**king behaviour problems and mental health problems and you throw in a load of fucking booze and let them all f**k up, or you go on the jungle which is quite sane and smart."
Shaun seems to have changed his opinion on Strictly after claiming in 2010 that he'd agreed to take part, but was banned by BBC bosses fearing a foul-mouthed outburst on the family-friendly show.
He said: "Producers wanted me to do Strictly and I said yes, but the head of the BBC ruled that I couldn't be trusted live on Saturday primetime.
"I have got a naughty mouth but I wouldn't have sworn on the live shows."
The Sun Online revealed last week that Strictly is delaying this year's lineup to include Team GB heroes from this summer's Olympic Games in Rio.
Contracts are usually completed and signed by the beginning of August to allow time for fittings and other back room details to be thrashed out ahead of the following month's launch show.
But with the Rio games coming to a close on August 21, the line-up is now not expected to be finalised until early September.
A source said: "It will most definitely mean a chaotic rush and race against time to get at least two Olympic stars contracted and costumed ahead of the launch.
"It will mean a delay in the official line-up being made public but there is no doubt amongst the researchers that to get a couple of sporting names fresh from the games involved will be a huge ratings winner once again."
Olympic gymnast Louis Smith won Strictly in 2012 off the back of the London Games, while gold medal-winning cyclist Victoria Pendleton also took part.
