Damon Albarn still miffed at Adele over song snub her record-breaking album 25
Britpop star was confronted by the Skyfall singer’s manager at awards ceremony but refused attempts to patch up their feud
ADELE has work to do before she’s added back to DAMON ALBARN’s Christmas card list.
The BLUR frontman is still miffed at how she treated him while making her recording-breaking album 25.
He was confronted by Adele’s manager Jonathan Dickins at the Ivor Novello awards on Thursday but refused his attempts to patch up the feud.
Damon was overheard saying: “I got treated appallingly.
“You know, I know it, she knows it. I want her to call me, not you say it for her.”
The response came after Damon picked up a Lifetime Achievement award.
Adele swerved the ceremony despite being crowned Songwriter of the Year.
Moments earlier by his table, Damon was just as blunt, saying: “I’m disappointed Adele isn’t here.
“She needs to say sorry. She owes me an apology. The ball is in her court.”
The row stretches back to when Damon was asked to work on 25 last year by Adele, who is a huge Blur fan.
I revealed in September he was unhappy his material then wasn’t used.
Talking earlier about what had happened, he said: “Adele asked me to work with her and I took the time out for her.
“And I’m not a producer. . . I don’t know what is happening really. Will she use any of the stuff? I don’t think so. Let’s wait and see.
“The thing is, she’s very insecure. And she doesn’t need to be, she’s still so young.”
The jibe certainly struck a nerve with Adele, who hit back in typical fashion two months later during the album’s promo.
On working with Damon, she said: “It ended up being one of those ‘don’t meet your idol’ moments.
“The saddest thing was that I was such a big Blur fan growing up.
“But it was sad, and I regret hanging out with him.”
It’s a shame the two British icons can’t make up given they’re clearly fans of each other’s work.
Damon has managed to end a long feud with Britpop rival NOEL GALLAGHER which never looked like happening, so there is still hope.
Surely one of them sending a box of Quality Street is all it will take.
Why eyes, man!
CHERYL made two revelations when she joined JAMIE OLIVER in the kitchen yesterday.
The first was boyfriend LIAM PAYNE is a dab hand in the kitchen.
The second was her need for specs.
She may have borrowed them from DAME EDNA EVERAGE but Cheryl still managed to look amazing as she
arrived at the chef’s cookery school in London.
She rustled up a chicken dinner for Food Revolution Day, which was streamed via Facebook, and dished the goss on Liam.
When Jamie quizzed her on what he would be whipping up for their romantic evening meal, she replied:
“Probably one of your recipes.”
That’s turkey twizzlers ruled out, then.
Cannes special: Day 11
IF SEAN PENN thought sharing the red carpet with ex and star of his new film CHARLIZE THERON would be his most awkward moment in Cannes, he was wrong.
His movie The Last Face was panned by critics after premiering yesterday to a chorus of boos.
The refugee drama he directed is a love story set in Africa between an aid agency boss (Charlize) and a relief worker (JAVIER BARDEM).
But the plot was so bad that some guests joked it may have caused his split with Charlize.
Sean also faced accusations the film is racist, as there are hardly any black characters.
Speaking after the screening, he said: “I stand by the film as it is, and everyone is going to be entitled to their response.
“I’ve finished the movie so it’s not a discussion I’d be of value to.”
Touchy.
Meanwhile, KATY PERRY’s outfit may have been put through a shredder but she still managed to entertain the A-list, including boyfriend ORLANDO BLOOM at amfAR’s 23rd Cinema Against Aids Gala on Thursday.
And Fiat heir Lapo Elkann had fun – taking full advantage after he won a kiss with UMA THURMAN in a charity auction.
That’s a bid of all right.
Lots of L-Olly Murs
IT’s a good thing OLLY MURS no longer has to do any live presenting on Saturday nights.
The Essex boy has plenty of cash to splash in Bas Vegas nightclubs after his bank balance soared from £1.5million to £5.2million in the past 12 months.
His profits were boosted by touring and album sales, plus his stint as host of the X Factor last year.
That means he’ll have no trouble buying a round of red Aftershocks on his next boys night in Basildon.
A source said: “Olly’s bank balance is reflecting his career.
“As long as his popularity in the charts remains strong, he’ll benefit from lucrative endorsements and job offers.
“That’s showing no sign of waning.”
Olly’s X Factor hosting gig, alongside CAROLINE FLACK, was short-lived after SIMON COWELL brought back DERMOT O’LEARY to steer the show for the upcoming series.
But he can now concentrate on his music, with a new album due out this year.
That’s if he gets bored counting his cash.
