Drag Queen Danny Beard catches Simon Cowell’s eye on Britain’s Got Talent 2016
Singer had a golden voice to match their golden beard... but was a week too late for the golden buzzer
SIMON Cowell meets his match on tonight’s episode of Britain’s Got Talent – in the form of a glamorous drag queen.
The head judge of the show held his head in his hands as Danny Beard from Liverpool took to the stage wearing a sequinned gold skirt that matched their equally as glittering gold facial hair.
“I feel a little out of my comfort zone,” admits Simon, taking in the act who is painted in black and white save for their bright red lipstick and gold beard.
David Walliams’ however remained positive and said: “I think the Royal Family are ready for an act like this.”
Danny, who won Drag Idol UK 2015 last year, has a substantial gay following online after becoming a staple part of the Manchester and UK drag scenes.
They performed a rendition of Sweet Transvestite from camp musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show in a bid to get the judges dancing and Amanda immediately obliges and wails in delight at the song choice.
Viewers will have to tune in to the show tonight to see if Danny was successful and if the media mogul had a change of heart and whether he shares his make-up tips with the judges to boot.
I don’t know about you, but we definitely saw a hint of a smile there…
Danny Beard is just one of the weird and wonderful talents to feature in the last episode of BGT heats.
David Walliams’ eyes nearly pop out of his head as he watches an oiled-up, half-naked French man writhe around in a bath tub and perform an aerial routine.
Charlie, from Paris, immediately caught the eye of David after Simon introduced him.
He then went on to wow the audience with a saucy acrobatic ribbon routine to Nasty Boy by Christina Aguilera.
“It was super sexy,” said Alesha.
She added: “You’ve literally made David’s day!”
When Simon didn’t give David the chance to speak while the judges gave their verdicts, David then left the judging panel and chased him backstage.
“I should go and tell him. I just need to speak to him!” said David.
Amanda Holden was also pulled onto the stage to be the glamourous assistant to a whacky magician that wears a giant balloon on his head.
All bets are off after all four members of the judging panel have used their golden buzzers to send through acts to the live semi-finals, and participants are pulling out all the stops to make sure they're remembered
